The BS in Data Science degree does have a solid math background and will require advanced classes in mathematics, such as calculus II and linear algebra. In addition, various topics in calculus III, probability and statistics will be covered in data science core courses.

Students in the data science program want to become proficient and ethical producers, evaluators and consumers of data. They are typically interested in the following activities (covered in the data science core classes):

Apart from immersion (in person at Tempe campus) degree, there is also a BS in Data Science online degree. Not all tracks are currently available to online students, but the hope is that they will all be available in the future.

Online tracks:

  • Biosciences
  • Business Analytics
  • Social Sciences

ASUERAU C*-Seminar
Oct. 26, 2022
WXLR A307 and virtual via Zoom
1:30-2:45pm MST/AZ

Our C*-Seminar will again be on Wednesdays from 1:30-2:45 pm (Arizona time, no daylight savings), meeting both in person (WXLR A307) and via zoom.

Also new: it's now the ASUERAU C*-Seminar (so, joint with our friends Lara and Mitch at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University up the road in Prescott).

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Research for Inclusive STEM Education (RISE) Center will be co-sponsoring a Natural Sciences Inclusion Summit on Wednesday, November 9. The goal of this summit is to convene the ASU community to learn about current research and initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion happening in the natural sciences at ASU. This event will be open to the broader ASU community and we are calling for potential presenters. This is a great opportunity to get feedback on your work or initiative and to meet other like-minded folks at ASU.
