The Math Bio Club welcomes all (Undergraduates and Graduates) to come and hang out to form some connections with like-minded researchers at ASU. ASU students and faculty of music and mathematics are invited to put their heads together and brainstorm new ways of tuning musical instruments. We will discuss the mathematics of harmony, alternative tuning systems, infinite divisions of the octave, and the farthest reaches of n-dimensional pitch space. Participants will tear down the walls of 12-tone equal temperament and develop techniques for exploring new harmonic architecture. Free and open to the public.
