Prospective biomarker integration into clinical trials are often used to optimize treatment response. This talk discusses a case study where retrospective evaluation of a yet-unvalidated assay was used as a possible salvage strategy for a FDA submission. This talk will be an introduction to the high-level uses of biomarkers in clinical trials; issues in using non-validated assays; and general approaches for evaluation of clinical utility.
