Why does the Association for Women in Mathematics exist? And why would anyone who isn't a woman join or support the organization? Did you know that women make up only 19% of full-time faculty in doctoral math departments? And when you restrict to tenured faculty at the top 50 research institutions, this number falls to only 12%. Come and learn more about what the journey looks like to seek that coveted faculty position. This session is particularly geared to people who have not attended AWM meetings and don’t know much about the organization, especially those who are men. Find out concrete ways that you can become an ally and support women in mathematics.
